Step 1
Make an appointment to either come into the office or you can make arrangements for us to come to your location for a small fee.
Step 2 Your ears will be examined for obstructions as well as deformities/surgeries that could affect the impressions. If there are any obstructions they must be removed before impressions can be taken. You will be referred to your medical provider or instructed how to use an at home kit.
Step 3 A cotton dam will be inserted into your ear to protect the eardrum. This process often tickles slightly.
Step 4 Some will require a dental block. It's a small piece placed between the top and bottom teeth that allows the jaw to rest in a slightly open position. This is mostly used for performing musicians.
Step 5 The impression material is pumped into the ear by the “impression gun” (similar to a caulking gun except with materials designed for the ears).
Step 6 The material takes 3-5 minutes to harden up and then is removed. That’s it!
From start to finish most are done in 15-30 minutes depending on how many questions you may have. Whether you have many questions or no questions at all, our goal is for you to be satisfied with your product. |
